Internships

District Offices

In the Amarillo and Wichita Falls district offices, college students may apply for internships for the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. Although all internships in our offices are unpaid, students gain invaluable work experience. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Intern responsibilities will vary, but they will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation, attend local events, contact local officials, conduct in-district research, assist in constituent services (casework), support staff, and potentially staff events such as townhalls. As a result, interns learn about the types of constituent services and how congressional offices can help our community.

Washington, DC

In the Washington, D.C. office, college students may apply for internships for the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. Students gain invaluable work experience and exposure to the legislative process. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session. Intern responsibilities will vary, but they will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

The application periods for the upcoming semesters are below:

  • Summer 2025: CLOSED
  • Fall 2025: OPEN
  • Spring 2026: CLOSED
