Rep. Jackson Introduces New Legislation to Combat Cancel Culture

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) introduced the Stop Cancel Culture From Degrading Honor Act. This bill will make Medals of Honor or other military decorations permanent after ten years have passed, with a limited number of exceptions.

Jackson’s legislation comes as Senator Elizabeth Warren and other radical Democrats have sought to undermine the Medal of Honor and its recipients by introducing legislation to strip Medals of Honor that were awarded in the 1800s. Their legislative effort would set a ridiculous precedent in which Members of Congress can retroactively and posthumously strip medals from service members over personal disagreements about what is politically correct.

Jackson said: “I came to Congress to continue a career of service to my country and to stand up for the values I learned growing up in West Texas. I, and many constituents of TX-13, have had enough of cancel culture and its intent to destroy anyone who does not agree with Democrats’ radical, woke agenda. My bill is straightforward and will prevent people like Elizabeth Warren and AOC from looking back one hundred years or more to rewrite the history books. Military men and women who valiantly fought for our country should be off the table, and if we don’t fight back on this there is no telling what is next.”

Jackson serves as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. Bill text can be found here.

Original cosponsors of this legislation include Representatives Randy Weber (TX-14), Pat Fallon (TX-04), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Yvette Herrell (NM-02), Scott DesJarlais (TN-04), Barry Moore (AL-02), Brian Mast (FL-18), Louie Gohmert (TX-01), Matt Rosendale (MT-AL), Chip Roy (TX-21), and Matt Gaetz (FL-01).
