Rep. Jackson Introduces Pro-Life Resolution Promoting Women's Health and Strengthening the Family

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) introduced a resolution expressing support for the pro-life principles of the Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women’s Health and Strengthening the Family. Rejoining this coalition of nations reaffirms the United States’ commitment to advancing women’s health while asserting that there is no international right to abortion. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) introduced the companion resolution in the U.S. Senate.

Jackson said: “Rejoining the Geneva Consensus Declaration sends a clear message to the world that the United States stands for life, family, and the health of women. I will always advocate for initiatives that prioritize and protect family-based values and principles. The nuclear family is the cornerstone of our nation, and America must once again lead by example and reaffirm our commitment to health and prosperity at every stage of life. I want to thank Senator Daines for co-leading this resolution in the United States Senate, and I urge my colleagues to join me in restoring these family-first policies domestically and globally.”

Daines said: “The Geneva Consensus Declaration affirms basic principles that all life is sacred and there is no international right to abortion. It also declares that families must be protected and defends the sovereign right of nations to enact laws that advance these truths. Despite the Biden administration’s opposition, the Geneva Consensus Declaration coalition continues to grow, which thankfully shows other countries know that life, the family and women’s health must be protected.”

Valerie Huber, President & CEO of the Institute for Women’s Health said: “I commend Congressman Jackson and Senator Daines for their leadership in championing the GCD and advancing this critical resolution. Rejoining this thriving coalition offers the United States an opportunity to restore its leadership in global health diplomacy while upholding the sovereign right of nations to govern free from ideological colonialism. President Trump’s pledge to rejoin reflects his bold commitment to defending and improving the lives of women worldwide by ensuring authentic health care takes precedence over divisive agendas.”

Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President of Government Affairs at Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America said: “The Geneva Consensus Declaration was a landmark achievement between the United States, led by President Trump and his first administration, and more than 30 nations affirming the right to life and rejecting abortion on demand. Regrettably, Biden and Harris unilaterally withdrew from it and made our nation a global exporter of abortion. We should stand with the international community for life again. Representative Jackson’s resolution reaffirms the commitment of nations to protect their most vulnerable citizens, including unborn children, while safeguarding sovereign countries against pressure from the United Nations and others to strip those protections away. With strong leaders like Rep. Jackson in Congress and President Trump returning to the White House, we look forward to seeing the Declaration and other great pro-life policies restored.”
