Wichita Falls, TX — In response to Representative Ronny Jackson’s (TX-13) efforts, the Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded the Red River Chloride Control Project $1,600,000 to purify water in the Wichita Falls area. The project was suspended last year, prompting Jackson’s initiatives in Congress to secure the funding necessary to resume the project’s operation and management.

Jackson said: My staff and I have been deeply engaged on this issue for months now because safe drinking water for our communities is nonnegotiable, and because it’s my firm belief that the federal government had a duty in this situation to either continue funding the project or ensure a smooth transition to local control. It quickly became clear that the Biden Administration had no interest in working with our community, so the only viable option in my eyes was continued funding at the federal level. I was relentless in pursuit of this funding, and I am proud to see a positive outcome because of my office’s work. This funding will make sure the City of Wichita Falls, Sheppard Air Force Base, agricultural irrigation systems, and surrounding areas have safe, drinkable water for years to come.”
