Rep. Jackson Announces 2023 Congressional Art Competition Winner

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) announced the winner of Texas’ 13th Congressional District’s 2023 Congressional Art Competition, an annual contest held among high school students across the country for the chance to have their artwork featured in the Nation’s Capitol for their respective District.

Jackson said“I am pleased to congratulate Shreya Kumar on placing first in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. Her patriotic artwork embodies the spirit of America and the importance of each citizen’s right to vote. Each piece of artwork submitted this year truly exemplifies a true love of our country and showcases just how talented our students are. I thank all participants, including the parents and teachers who helped facilitate the contest. I look forward to seeing Shreya’s work hang in the United States Capitol later this year!”

As this year’s first-place winner, Shreya Kumar’s piece, titled The Voice of My Age, will hang in the United States Capitol alongside other winning pieces from other Congressional Districts. Shreya is a junior at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science in Denton.

The Congressional Art Competition has recognized the artistic talents of young students nationwide since 1982. Dozens of students from multiple high schools across our district participated in our local competition this year. Submissions consisted of photographs, drawings, paintings, and computer-generated art.
