Rep. Jackson Announces 2025 Congressional Art Competition Winner

AMARILLO, TX — Today, Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) announced the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District. This annual contest is held among high school students across the country for the chance to have their artwork featured in the United States Capitol for their respective districts for one year. This year’s theme was Texas Grit and Grace, highlighting the strength, resilience, and kindness of TX-13 constituents.


"Congratulations to Drew Puentes on winning first place i n the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’ 13th Congressional District!” said Rep. Ronny Jackson. “His powerful charcoal drawing of two boys on horseback perfectly captures the grit, heart, and heritage of the Texas Panhandle. I’m proud to have his work represent our district in the U.S. Capitol. A big thank you to every student who participated and to the parents and teachers who helped bring their talents to life!"


As this year’s first-place winner, Drew Puentes’s piece, titled Something Crazy, Something Wild, will hang in the United States Capitol alongside winning pieces from other Congressional Districts for one year. Drew is from Spearman, Texas and is a student at Gruver High School.


The Congressional Art Competition has recognized the artistic talents of young students nationwide since 1982. Dozens of students from multiple high schools across Texas’ Thirteenth Congressional District participated in the competition this year. Submissions consisted of photographs, drawings, paintings, and computer-generated art.
