ICYMI: Pantex Facility Opens Following $136M+ Investment Secured by Rep. Ronny Jackson

WASHINGTON — Representative Ronny Jackson (TX-13) highlighted the opening of Pantex’s new High Explosives Science and Engineering (HESE) facility, a major national security infrastructure project that replaces 15 World War II-era buildings with a modern, state-of-the-art center supporting high explosives research and nuclear weapons modernization in the Texas Panhandle.

Since taking office, Rep. Jackson has secured $136.36 million in federal funding for the project through the National Defense Authorization Act and annual appropriations process.

Funding secured includes:

  • FY2025 – $15 million

  • FY2024 – $101.36 million

  • FY2023 – $20 million

“The completion of Pantex’s new HESE facility is a major win for the Texas Panhandle and our national security,” said Rep. Jackson. “As Pantex continues to play a critical role in maintaining our nuclear deterrent, this investment modernizes the infrastructure needed to safely and effectively meet future mission demands. I’m proud to have helped secure this funding to replace outdated WWII-era buildings with a cutting-edge facility, and I’ll continue working to strengthen our national defense while reinforcing the Panhandle’s vital role in America’s security infrastructure.”

The new HESE facility represents a significant modernization effort at Pantex and supports the continued advancement of the nation’s defense capabilities. The project is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety standards, and support long-term mission readiness.

The Texas Panhandle remains a cornerstone of America’s defense enterprise, and Congressman Jackson has remained committed to advocating for investments that strengthen military readiness, support local jobs, and reinforce the region’s strategic role in protecting the United States.
