WASHINGTON — Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) announced that Texas is set to receive $7.5 billion in federal reimbursement for border-security costs incurred by the state during the Biden administration, providing long-overdue relief to Texas taxpayers who shouldered the cost of securing the nation’s southern border.

Through Operation Lone Star, Texas spent more than $11 billion to address the unprecedented consequences of the Biden administration’s failed open border policies. For years, Jackson has fought to ensure Texas and other border communities are not forced to bear the financial burden of a crisis created at the federal level.

In 2023, Jackson introduced the Reimbursing Border Communities Act, legislation to provide federal reimbursement to communities along the southern border for eligible costs associated with responding to the border crisis. This Congress, he reintroduced the legislation, continuing his effort to ensure Texas taxpayers receive federal support for the unnecessary costs they incurred protecting their communities.

In November 2025, Jackson joined members of the Texas congressional delegation in urging the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice to prioritize reimbursement for Texas’ border-security expenditures.

In July 2026, Jackson again joined the Texas delegation in supporting Texas' request for Operation Lone Star reimbursement as authorized by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

“Texas taxpayers stepped up when President Biden failed to secure our southern border, and Texans should not be forced to foot the bill for the federal government now,” said Rep. Jackson. “I have fought for years to make sure Texas is reimbursed for the enormous costs it incurred protecting our communities and our country. Border security is national security, and Texas answered the call. This $7.5 billion is a major step towards righting the wrongs of the Biden administration’s failed open border policies.”
