Announcement: Congressional Art Competition

AMARILLO, TX — Today, the Office of Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) announced it will soon be accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. All high school students in Texas’ 13th Congressional District are invited to participate. The winner’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Please submit original artwork and the required entry form to one of Congressman Jackson’s offices between the dates of Monday, March 4, 2024 and Friday, April 5, 2024. Submissions can be mailed in or dropped off at either the Amarillo or Wichita Falls offices during the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Drop off at the Denton office is by appointment only. All entry forms must be typed, and received by Friday, April 5, 2024, at 5:00 PM CT.

This year, we proudly present the theme "Landscapes and Landmarks," celebrating the beauty, uniqueness, and distinctive character of Texas' 13th Congressional District. The theme is a tribute that embodies the essence of our district, symbolizes its significance, and captures the pride of our communities. Artwork must be two-dimensional and original in concept, design, and execution. Artwork must not be heavier than 15 pounds and no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. The winner must frame their artwork before it is sent to the U.S. Capitol and the piece must continue to meet weight and size regulations.

Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
  • Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (it is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed)
  • Collages: must be two-dimensional
  • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums, such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
  • Computer-generated Art
  • Photography
