WASHINGTON — Yesterday, Representatives Ronny Jackson (TX-13) and David Kustoff (TN-08) introduced a resolution condemning the recent Orderfrom the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that wrongfully imposed provisional measures against the State of Israel for defending itself in the wake of the deadly October 7th attacks by Hamas. This resolution makes clear that the ICJ failed to consider Israel’s right to self-defense against the attacks and the gravity of the international law violations committed by Hamas. Further, the resolution calls on the Biden administration to formally intervene in support of Israel's right to defend itself in response to the barbaric and unprovoked attacks by Hamas.
Jackson said: “It's abhorrent that South Africa would fall prey to terrorist propaganda and bring this case against Israel in the first place. Hamas, a designated Iranian-backed terrorist organization that proudly and publicly proclaims its goal of eliminating the State of Israel, should be put on trial for attacking Israel on October 7th, not Israel for defending itself from these barbaric terrorists. If South Africa and the ICJ truly cared about Palestinians, they would demand Hamas release every single hostage. Instead, South Africa and the ICJ would rather distort the truth and seek the approval of Iran and its terrorist proxies. America must do whatever it takes to defend our greatest ally in the Middle East. This includes calling out antisemitic, globalist organizations, such as the ICJ, for falsely calling Israel genocidal, which is exactly the propaganda Hamas and Iran want the world to believe. Thank you to my friend Congressman Kustoff for joining me in introducing this important resolution which makes it crystal clear that Israel has the fundamental right to defend its right to exist.”
Kustoff said: “Israel has every right to defend herself from the barbaric Hamas terrorists who killed 1,200 innocent men, women, and children and took hundreds captive on October 7th. That is why I joined Rep. Jackson in introducing this critical resolution condemning the recent provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice and South Africa for accusing Israel of committing and inciting genocide. Now more than ever, it is imperative the United States along with the international community stand with Israel and her efforts to combat this evil."
