WASHINGTON — Representative Ronny Jackson (TX-13) has been selected as a recipient of West Texas A&M University’s Department of Agricultural Sciences First Choice Award, recognizing his leadership, service, advocacy, and support for agriculture and agricultural education in the Texas Panhandle. Jackson has worked to bring federal resources back to West Texas and expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in agriculture. His efforts include helping secure over $3 million in federal funding for the new West Texas A&M University Feedlot Educational Training Facility’s research feedlot and educational complex. The project will provide students with hands-on education and training while advancing research and innovation in the fed cattle industry. “Agriculture is the backbone of the Texas Panhandle, and the farmers, ranchers, producers, and agricultural professionals who feed and fuel our nation deserve a strong voice in Washington,” said Rep. Jackson. “The work being done at WT is essential for preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders and strengthening an industry that is so vital to the Texas Panhandle and our entire nation. I am honored to have been selected to receive the First Choice Award and will continue to be a strong advocate for agriculture in Congress.” ### |
