Rep. Jackson Secures Major Victories for TX-13 as NDAA Passes House

WASHINGTON — Last night, the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. The NDAA included many legislative amendments and bills that were authored by Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13). Through Jackson’s work, numerous victories were secured for Sheppard Air Force Base, the Amarillo Pantex Plant, and the larger defense-focused workforce in the Thirteenth Congressional District of Texas. In addition to the countless provisions Jackson secured before the bill passed out of the Armed Services Committee earlier this month, he also led a pro-Israel amendment which passed on the House Floor yesterday prior to final passage. Jackson’s amendment asserts that the U.S.-Israel relationship is non-negotiable and makes clear that Israel is a critical defense partner. Jackson’s remarks on the Israel amendment can be found here. Jackson said: “As a member of the House Armed Services Committee and a retired Flag Officer, I understand how critical it is to keep the military ready to fight. The NDAA is the annual piece of legislation that authorizes funding for the entire U.S. Military and keeps us all safe. This legislation is not perfect and contains some provisions I do not agree with, but passing the NDAA was the right thing to do for our servicemembers and national security interests. I will work aggressively with my House and Senate colleagues to improve this bill during the Conference process prior to it becoming law.” Jackson serves on the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees.
