STATEMENTS OF SUPPORT FOR THE RURAL HOSPITAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ACT

John Henderson, President of Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals said: “TORCH appreciates Dr. Jackson’s leadership and endorses the Rural Hospital Technical Assistance Program Act because it aims to support and stabilize vulnerable rural hospitals and protect rural communities’ access to care.”

John Hawkins, President and CEO of Texas Hospital Association said: “In Texas, nearly one out of 10 hospitals is at risk of closure, according to an analysis by Kaufman Hall. Ongoing financial pressures continue to threaten access to care across our state. THA applauds Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) and Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-WA) for introducing the Rural Hospital Technical Assistance Program Act. This legislation will ensure important federal resources remain available to strengthen and protect rural hospitals.”

Lisa Kidder Hrobsky, American Hospital Association’s Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Political Affairs said: “On behalf of America’s hospitals and health care systems, we appreciate Reps. Kilmer and Jackson’s leadership to protect and strengthen rural hospitals. The Rural Hospital Technical Assistance Program Act will allow additional hospitals to benefit from this USDA program by addressing some of their financial and operational concerns so they can continue to provide vital services to patients in rural areas.”

Sarah Hohman, Director of Government Affairs for NARHC said: "The National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC) thanks Representatives Jackson and Kilmer for the ways they continue to champion the unique needs of rural providers in TX-13, WA-06 and across the country. Codifying the USDA Rural Hospital Technical Assistance Program and naming Rural Health Clinics as eligible entities will increase access to important supports for our safety net providers."
